Sitting at a piano in Toronto, Superhuman Happiness bandleader Stuart Bogie started his search for an epic ballad, and wrote the theme for "Victory." Singer/lyricist Dia Luna added verses about holding on to hope and faith in the future during dark times. “Victory” (parts 1 and 2) is the penultimate track on Superhuman Happiness’s new record, Beacon. Beacon comes out October 19 on Yeggs Records and features guests Richard Reed Parry, Colin Stetson and Dave Harrington. The “Victory” single comes out October 9, following the band’s two recent singles “Bury Me” and “Release Identity.”
Well if you did choose your choice Of a fugitive's straining voice Why do you clutch the scar? When a victory's not so far?
If you hear the faintest melody today These lines are filled with all the time it takes
Well what if you could choose a change When the day has a bitter taste And you're crumblin’, just coming apart And a victory feels so far
If you hear the longest melody today These lines are filled with all the blood it takes
In our life sublime We're leaping to the other side The diamond or the distant star Nothing's far from you
‘Cos in our life sublime We're leaping to the other side The diamond or the distant star Nothing's far from you
Well and you did choose your choice You're a choir with a single voice Look at you, whole the scar You know a victory's not so far
If you hear the freest melody today These lines are filled with all the time it takes
So don't believe The whispers from the other side They agonize or justify the star far from you 'Cos in our life sublime We're leaping to the other side The diamond or the distant star Nothing's far from you You
